JOYCE HINKLE Obituary

A funeral service for Joyce J. Hinkle, 76, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Wheatland, Wyoming with Bishop Matt Stafford presiding. Interment will be held in the Wheatland Cemetery.
Joyce Hinkle passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Care Center in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
She was born on September 16, 1942, in Anaconda, Montana, the daughter of Myrle Lorilla (Jensen) and Albert J. Wallace. In subsequent years she was joined by brothers, Calvin and Albert. The family lived in several communities throughout the Northwest, finally settling in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Joyce graduated from CDA High School and attended North Idaho Junior College, and eventually earning an Associate’s degree from Eastern Wyoming College.
During the intervening years, Joyce served The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (British South Mission), married Doug Hinkle in the Manti, Utah Temple in 1967, gave birth to their daughter, Margaret Rene’ Virginia, and thrilled to being Grandma to Rene’ and Nathan’s three children.
Her vocational experiences included telephone operator, sales clerk for a food storage products store, substitute school teacher, night attendant at a local motel, and 18 years as the Wheatland Middle School Librarian. While Halloween was not her favorite holiday, she enjoyed dressing in her witch’s costume and breaking loose with a scary cackle and the kids enjoyed it also.
Joyce had a strong soprano voice and loved to “belt it out.” That talent served her well in winning a Miss Coeur d’Alene Pageant.  She sang also for church and community programs. In her local church assignments, she served as a ward missionary, a leader of youth organizations, and of course, music director and chorister.
Her hobbies included writing poetry and short stories (especially for her grandchildren), gardening, crafting, and watching over God’s little lost ones (including the birds). She sought information, stories, and photos pertaining to her ancestors and performed temple ordinances.
Her strongest attributes included her testimony of The Church, her extensive knowledge of LDS scriptures, and her empathy for the less-fortunate and the elderly.
Joyce suffered a damaging stroke at home in Wheatland, in April of 2018.
She is survived by her husband; daughter and son-in-law; three grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law; and fifteen nephews and nieces and their families.
