Funeral services for Judith Bell “Judy” Cook, 78, will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday, September 16, 2022 at the Ruthe James Williams Memorial Conference Center on the Wyoming State Fairgrounds, 400 East Center Street, Douglas, Wyoming with Ron Blain officiating. A private family inurnment will be at the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Judy Cook died on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming.
Judy was born Friday, November 5, 1943 in Laramie, Wyoming the daughter of Thomas Monroe and Ruth Eileen (Severns) Hunter.. She was raised and educated in Walden, Colorado. She married Billy Ray Cook on December 24, 1958 in Walden. Because of Billy’s jobs the family moved often. They lived in Grants, New Mexico for 7 ½ years, 2 years in Cortez, New Mexico, back to Grants for 9 months, 7 years in Riverton, Wyoming, and in 1974 to Douglas where she resided until the time of her death. Judy raising 3 children normally worked as a waitress/hostess in these towns and her last job in Douglas was working as a receptionist at Class Act.
Judy was an avid bowler, enjoyed traveling, fishing, and hunting. But, most of all spending time with her grandchildren which she adored.
Judy is survived by her children, Julie (Pat) Varland and Billy Joe Cook both of Douglas; brother, Robert Hunter of Douglas; sister, Jeannie Smith of Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas, on November 17, 1972; mother, Ruth, on October 3, 1964; husband, Billy Ray, on January 28, 1998; son, Harold “Jack” Cook, on August 27, 2011; brothers, Tom, Don, Larry, and Jim Hunter; and sisters, Shirley Olson and Tillie Love.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
Serving as pallbearers will be Braedon Cook, Joey Cook, Angel Enciso, Derek Enciso, Lee Varland, Chris Varland, and Mei Ling Keiki.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Douglas Senior Citizens Center, P.O. Box 192, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
