December 8, 1937 ~ December 2, 2021 (age 83)

A graveside service will be held for Katherine “Kathy” Hytrek, 83, at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at the Horseshoe Cemetery near Glendo, Wyoming with Marjorie Sanborn officiating.  Family and friends may call at the Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel in Douglas, Wyoming on Monday, December 6, 2021, from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.

Kathy was born on Wednesday, December 8, 1937, in Winner, South Dakota to Burnice Wallace and Edith (Koenig) Percy.  Kathy was raised and educated in Winner, where she graduated from the Winner High School. Following high school, she met and married Glen Peters.  Although, this marriage ended in divorce, they raised seven children.  The family moved often due to Glen’s job doing construction.  Kathy became very self-sufficient (canning and quilting and keeping seven young children occupied and out of trouble) rising to the challenge of raising seven children on her own while Glen was away for weeks at a time.  The children have loving memories of singing songs together and their mom fishing and hunting.
Kathy loved animals, especially dogs (poodles).  Many came in and out of her life and she mourned each one.  Kathy met Calvin at a cribbage tournament in Lusk, Wyoming in 1986, and they married in 1987.  Together they lived in Glendo, Wyoming, for the next 33 years, experiencing the wonders of Wyoming.  She and Calvin built a cabin in the Laramie Mountains where they hunted elk, deer, and antelope.  She loved the quiet beauty of the mountains and the opportunity to create a home with Calvin.  She especially enjoyed helping with ranching duties like feeding cattle and fixing fences.During her many years living in Glendo she was kept busy with the fire department, as a bus driver, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, serving on the town council, and helping to organize the annual Glendo Days parade.
Kathy will be terribly missed by Calvin, children, and grandchildren.  Kathy suffered from Alzheimer’s in her last few years.  It was so difficult for Calvin and her children to see her memories gradually slip away.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Burnice in October,1978 and Edith on February 14, 1984; and siblings, Bette (Fred) Beeman, Don Percy, Dale Percy, Helen Percy, and Ruby Percy.
She is survived by her loving husband, Calvin, of Glendo; children, Glen Peters Jr. of Witten, South Dakota, Edie (Eric) Connot of Clearfield, South Dakota, Brad Peters of Kearney, Nebraska, Ted Peters of Lyman, Nebraska, Danny (Vio) Peters of El Paso, Texas, Jeff (Nancy) Peters of Winner, and Billy (Mary) Peters of Kearney; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Zechariah Peters, Noah Peters, Clayton Peters, Chris Peters, Cory Peters, and James Sturgeon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Alzheimer’s Association – Wyoming Chapter, 2232 Dell Range Boulevard, Suite 101, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82009 or to the Glendo Ambulance, P.O. Box 396, Glendo, Wyoming 82213 would be appreciated by the family.
