Obituary
Funeral services for Kathy Jean Kehl will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, December 3rd, 2022, 2022 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Douglas, Wyoming. Interment will be at the Stuart Cemetery in Stuart, Nebraska at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 5th, 2022.
Kathy Jean (Smith) Kehl, age 74, of Douglas, Wyoming passed away on Tuesday, November 15th, 2022 at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
She was born on Saturday, August 7th, 1948, in Indiana County, Pennsylvania the daughter of James Wilson and Audrey Frances (Christy) Smith. She graduated high school from Newcastle, Wyoming and went on to earn a R.N. degree from Blessing School of Nursing in Quincy, Illinois. It was during her time in Quincy that she met her husband, Robert Duane Kehl. They were married on June 7th, 1970 and enjoyed 52 delightful years of marriage. Before retiring, Kathy spent 28 years serving as the school nurse for the Intermediate and Middle Schools for Converse County School District No. 1. She loved traveling, gardening, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Robert Kehl, of Douglas; two children, Jennifer Kehl Steinhauser (Casey) of Stuart and Christopher Kehl (Laura) of Arvada, Colorado; and five grandchildren, Rivirr Kehl, Tyler Steinhauser, Kyle Steinhauser, Elly Steinhauser and Sully Kehl. She is also survived by her two brothers, Richard Smith (Keta) of Ranchester, Wyoming and Ralph Smith (Diana) of Wheatland, Wyoming; sister, Karen (Smith) Zerbst, of Sturgis, South Dakota; brother-in-law, Mark Kehl (Donna) of Loraine, Illinois; and sister-in-law, Pat Ernst (Dwayne) of Casa Grande, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James on July 9, 2003 and Audrey on March 26, 2012.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Congregational United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 122, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
