KENNETH BOYD Obituary

A Celebration of Life open house lunch will be held for Kenneth James "Kenny" Boyd, 77, on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 11:30 A.M. to 1:30 P.M.  at the Moose Lodge, 608 8th Street in Wheatland, Wyoming.

Kenny Boyd passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at the Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland.

Kenny was born on Thursday, July 13, 1944 in Wheatland, the son of William Irvine “Bill” and Ruth Lillian (Lunde) Boyd. He was reared on the Garlock Ranch and went to country school through 5th grade. He then attended Wheatland schools and graduated in 1962 from Wheatland High School.

Kenny married Sheri Lynn Norris on June 21, 1963. They had three children, Staci, Dawn, and Tyler, and lived and worked together on the Boyd Ranch until it was sold in 1974. They moved to Wheatland and later divorced. He worked for Seidel Construction and the sod farm. He married Ramona Bonnin who had a son, James Reynolds. Kenny and Ramona moved to Marengo, Illinois and later divorced. He drove trucks for Harmony Metals for 25 years until he retired in 2009 and returned to Wheatland.

Kenny loved ranching and working cattle. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and never missed a year of hunting. His first hunting tag was a Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep when he was 16 years-old near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He was talented with wood and metals and made furniture and western art. He was a member of the Wheatland Jaycees, the Wheatland Moose Lodge, and the Wheatland Lions Club.

Kenny is survived by his three children, Staci Wiley (Greg) of Firestone, Colorado, Dawn Frager (Scott) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Tyler Boyd (Shonda) of Wheatland; one sister, Virginia Anderson, of Wheatland; one niece, Cheryl Deuel (Bruce) of Guernsey, Wyoming; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Boyd, on November 16, 2002; mother, Ruth Hutchinson, on April 27, 2013; and his nephew, Scott Woolsey, on March 29, 2014.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Platte County Legacy Home, 100 19th Street, Wheatland, Wyoming 82201.
