On Sunday, May 30, 2021 Larry Leroy Rue died at his home near Douglas, Wyoming surrounded by family at the age of 84.
Larry was born Sunday, May 30, 1937 in Minerva, Ohio the son of William Carl and Olive Esther (Osborn) Rue. Larry moved to Wyoming in 1957 where he met the love of his life Sandra Kay Barnaby. Larry and Sandra married six months later on June 7, 1958. Together they raised three children, Candlen “Candy”, Terri, and Mikeal.
Larry worked for the Wyoming Highway Department for 11 years then moved his family to Hanna, Wyoming to start a new career in the coal mines. Larry was a Boy Scout Master for several years while in Hanna. He won the Energy Development Company “Big Nose George Award” for his outstanding community service in Hanna.
Larry was an avid fisherman; some could say God invented walleye to keep Larry busy. He won three different biggest walleye championships in 2001, 2008 and 2010. He and Sandra retired to Douglas where he could be close to the lake. Larry and Sandra traveled between Wyoming and Florida where he could enjoy his passion year around. His pool team from the Manatee RV Park won first place in 2009 and 2014.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, William; his mother Olive; his sister, Nancy; and his grandson, Daniel.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Rue, of Douglas; his three children Candlen Carlson, of Sheridan, Wyoming, Terri (Tim) Gawronski, of Gillette, Wyoming, and Mikeal (Anna Marie) of Cunningham, Tennessee; his sister, Debbie Marquis, of Ruskin, Florida; his six grandchildren, Tammy (David), Jennifer (Lance), Amber (Eric), Sarai (Dakota), Mikaela, and Joseph; and his four great grandchildren, Lexes, Aiden, Teddy, and Jaxon.
A memorial service will be held later this summer for his family and friends.
