LINDA LEE (SMITH) NIELSEN

Linda Lee Nielsen, 68, beloved mom, grandma, and sister was called to Heaven Wednesday, September 29, 2021.

Linda was born in Colorado on Friday, February 6, 1953 to Eugene and Laura (Mason) Smith, the 3rd of four children. Her childhood was spent mostly between Douglas, Wyoming and Golden, Colorado.

While Linda’s life wasn’t always easy, with many challenges to overcome, she persevered and created for herself a life filled with love and friendship. From Colorado to Wyoming and eventually to Georgia to be near her grandchildren, she leaves behind many who’s lives she touched with her laughter, kindness and sweetness along the way.

Linda loved being near her kids and supporting her grandchildren. She enjoyed get-togethers of all sorts with her family and friends, from concerts and festivals to baseball and softball games. She loved classic rock and motorcycles. Nothing could make her smile quite like the sound of a Harley Davidson and the feel of riding on the back of one. She also loved her job at Chick-fil-A and the amazing relationships she built with those coworkers and customers who became her loving, supportive friends and second family.

Linda is survived by her children, Laura (Herb) Torres of Ann Arbor Michigan, Thaddeus Nielsen of Auburn Georgia, and Colleen (Jack) Maijala of Dacula Georgia; her sisters, Connie White of Douglas Wyoming and Susan Jones of Auburn Georgia; her brother, Willy Smith of Douglas Wyoming; her grandchildren, Kaiya Torres of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Gage Torres of Ann Arbor Michigan, William Maijala of Roswell, Georgia, Katie Maijala of Dacula Georgia, and Kellie Maijala of Dacula Georgia; plus numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and nephews Jason Mills and Danny White.

A memorial service will be held at The Trinity Baptist Church at 1424 Griffith Way, Douglas, Wyoming 82633, on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Tom Strock officiating. Interment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery with refreshments after at the church.

In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you honor her memory by taking a loved one out for dinner or doing something nice for someone.
