LORETTA ANN (MATHIAS) MCGUIRE

A funeral Liturgy for Loretta Ann McGuire, 75, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 10, 2023 at the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wheatland, Wyoming with Father Hiep Nguyen as the Celebrant.  A Vigil for the Deceased will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, March 9, 2023 at the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wheatland.  Inurnment will be in the Wheatland Cemetery.

Loretta McGuire was born on Thursday, October 30, 1947 to Delmer and Marjorie (Oster) Mathias in Greeley, Colorado.  She was raised on the family farm in Greeley.  She moved to Wheatland in the early 1970’s.  She and Dan McGuire met and were married.  They started out with a band of sheep on what was known as the Barrett place.  They then went into cattle.  They bought the ranch on the Laramie River where they raised their five children.

Loretta was a sports fan and great supporter of kids.  She loved to watch her kids and grandkids doing their many activities.  She would drive to Rawlins, Wyoming in a snow storm to watch a basketball game.  She would show up early enough to watch all games whether home or away.  She was known to keep a stat book or two.  She was happy to watch anything from an elementary choir concert to a high school basketball game to a college cross country meet.

Loretta is preceded in death by two sons, Samuel McGuire on October 17, 1994 and Shane McGuire on June 2, 2019 and parents, Delmer and Marjorie Mathias.

She is survived by her children, Shawn (Shelly) McGuire, Shannon (Clay) Brow, and Stephen (Michele) McGuire; grandchildren, Kelsey and Corby McGuire, Taylor, Danielle, and Rodee Brow, and Molly and Teagan McGuire; and great grandchildren, Eamon McGuire, Hagen and Walker McGuire.

A memorial to the donor’s choice that will benefit children would be appreciated by the family.
