The woman whom her children dubbed the “Wonder Woman on West Walnut” is now seeing wonders beyond her wildest dreams. Over the last few years, she has suffered strokes resulting in lots of physical therapy. Finally, cancer took her Home to Jesus, her Savior.
One of nine children, Louise was born at home south of Wheatland to Rosie and Bob Scott, the people who had the “greatest impact on her life.”
She married Clifford Williams and to this union were born six children. They divorced and in 1968, Louise returned from Arkansas to Wheatland on a Greyhound bus with four of her six children. She worked at a restaurant and finally at Department of Family Services (DFS) to support her family.
In 1973, Louise married the love of her life, Henry Roberts. Through a 28-year marriage they raised ten of their combined families of twelve children in the little house on West Walnut.
When asked what three words meant the most to her, Family, Love, and Ability to work. Her mantra was “One of the ways to make the world a better place is to raise a family that makes the world a better place.” That they did.
Leaving those to mourn Louise’s passing are her Williams’ children, Susie Shelley (her caregiver for seven years), Tony (Mary) of Alma, Arkansas, Luke (Debbie) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Jenny (Todd) of Roanoke, Texas, Chris (Ginger) of Claremore, Oklahoma; her Roberts’ children, Duane (Kate) of Rawlins, Wyoming, Gary (Marsha) Cheyenne, Beth (Dan) Darnell of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Bill See of Modesto, California; 29 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren with great-greats on the way; siblings, Patty of Wheatland, Darlene of Cheyenne, Dee of Guernsey, Toots of Oklahoma, and Maggie of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry in 2001; daughter, Tracy Roberts Deporter; sons, Robert Williams and Jim Roberts; granddaughter, Gina-Louise Williams; and siblings, Tommy, Johnny, and Betty.
Services were held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Wheatland Bible Church with Pastor Danny Fredericks officiating. Burial was in the Wheatland Cemetery beside Henry.
A memorial to the Wheatland Senior Activity Center in Wheatland would be appreciated by the family.
Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland are in charge of the arrangements.
