Michelle passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at the Platte County Hospital in Wheatland, Wyoming.
Michelle was born in Wheatland, on Friday, May 19, 1961, to Winnie Atterbury and Gerald Nordeen, and raised by William “Bill” Atterbury. She then grew up in Sunrise and Guernsey until she graduated from Guernsey High School in 1979.
Michelle met Randy Heckert, and had their first child, Tonya Klein in Riverton, Wyoming in 1981. Then they moved to Alaska shortly thereafter and had Brandon Heckert in 1983. Michelle then moved to Sterling, Colorado in 1988, and met Terry Prelle to build their life together. They were married in 1991 and remained married the rest of her life. She then moved to Wheatland in 2017.
She was a caretaker and CNA for most of her working life. Michelle enjoyed taking care of people and socializing with anyone and everyone. She was the life of the party and had a wild streak in her. Shelly enjoyed watching football, canning, was a phenomenal cook, and loved a good prank.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, as well as, brother, Jerry Nordeen and fathers, Bill Atterbury and Gerald Nordeen.
A memorial to the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
