Millie passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021 at her home in Douglas.  In her final hours she was surrounded by her three sons, grandkids, great grandkids, and several special care givers.

Millie was born in Omaha, Nebraska on Sunday, September 13, 1931 the daughter of William Louis “Bill” and Lucille L. (Anderson) Beaver.  After moving to Douglas, she attended local schools, was a high school cheerleader and worked at the Mesa Theatre and Ben’s Frontier Drug.  Millie at that time had no way of knowing that later she would be the co-owner of Frontier Drug with her husband, Earl, and son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jan Shatto.

Following graduation from high school in 1949, she was employed by the Converse County Bank and later in life also worked at the Anthony’s clothing store.  She married her husband of 71 years, Earl Shatto Jr. on November 4, 1950 in Douglas.

Millie was a past member of the E.S.A. Sorority and the Rebekah Lodge.  In her younger days she loved camping and hunting Indian artifacts.  She had a smile that would light up the room.  She loved her cabin in the mountains, her flowers, and working in her yard.  She never started a day without first making her bed.  Millie loved her cats, dogs, and watching humming birds.

She always put her husband and three sons first.  She never asked for anything and always made the holidays a labor of love making sure everyone was fed and taken care of.  When her husband, Earl, was still able to hunt she always spent her wedding anniversary cooking for the hunting camp, because at that time their anniversary was during elk season.

Millie, Earl, Gary, and Jan purchased the Frontier Drug in 1979 and Millie was the bookkeeper until her retirement in 2001.  When Gary and Jan bought Earl and Millie’s share of the drug store, her grandkids, and great grandkids were very special to her and made her smile.

Millie is survived by her sons, Gary (Jan Fogg) Shatto, Larry Shatto, and Kerry Shatto all of Douglas; grandchildren, Tanner (Lyndsey) Shatto, Tanisha (Mark) Dexter, Tyson (Jami) Shatto, Shelby (Cory) Snyder, Kelsey (Cody) Grant, Brady (Maci) Shatto, Zack Amen, and Barbie (Tony) Salerno; and 20 great grandchildren.

Millie was preceded in death by her father, Bill, on May 9, 1983; mother, Lucille, on June 16, 1996; husband, Earl, on September 15, 2020; siblings, Merna Mae McKillip on March 7, 2006, Elizabeth “Beth” Lundberg on March 21, 2020; and Kenneth Wayne Beaver, on March 29, 1992; and grandson, Shane Shatto on September 16, 2001.
