PATRICIA CAROL (STEPANICH) WHITING

Patricia Carol (Stepanich) Whiting, 86, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 28, 2025, surrounded by her family, after a short stay at Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas, Wyoming.

Patricia was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Friday, March 17, 1939, to Frank and Dorothy E. (Harrison) Stepanich.

After graduating from Douglas High School in 1957, she married Jimmie Dale Whiting, on September 11, 1959. To this union one daughter was born, Lorinda W. Mackowiak.

Patricia enjoyed being in the mountains, feeding and watching her hummingbirds, and she loved to read. She had a great love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. When she was younger, and her body was able, she filled her time with activities and supporting ministries at her church. Even up to the very end she showed a genuine concern for the souls of those around her. She enquired often if those caring for her knew Christ.

Family was important to Patricia. The greatest joys of her life were her grandchildren, Tim Achenbach and Tanaya Blake and two great-grandsons, Thaddeus and Troy Blake of Washington. She considered them to be one of God’s greatest miracles.

In the fall of 1999, she moved to Washington to live with her daughter Lorinda and son-in-law James Mackowiak in Arlington, Washington.  In the fall of 2022, she moved back to Douglas, Wyoming with her daughter and son-in-law which would be her final resting place.

Patricia is survived by her daughter, Lorinda W Mackowiak (James Mackowiak) of Douglas, Wyoming; two grandchildren, Tim Achenbach and Tanaya Blake (Adriel Blake) of Washington; two great-grandsons, Thaddeus and Troy Blake of Washington.

Patricia was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy, on August 5, 1980; father, Frank, on December 12, 1995; sister, Shirley Watson on July 17, 2015, sister Gloria Payne on November 7, 2021; and brother Richard Stepanick on January 1, 2025, along with several other family members and dear friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Patricia in the fall of 2025.
