Lester was the son of Ralph Lester Burton Sr. and Val Jean (Slaybaugh) Burton Park and was born on Monday, February 20, 1950 in Borger, Texas. He attended school in Stinnett, Texas and joined the United States Marine Corps in 1969. He was married to DeEtta Sue (Allen) Burton. Together they had three sons, Steven James, Mikael Allen, and Timothy O’Neil. After the Marines, they lived in Douglas, Wyoming. Lester worked at Douglas Exploration and enjoyed working on the side with his dad doing mechanic and carpentry work. He loved to restore automobiles. But, most of all he was so proud to be a dad and loved to teach his boys many things, especially riding motorcycles.
Lester is survived by his wife, Sue; sons, Steve of Timpson, Texas, Mike of Alamosa, Colorado, and Tim and wife, Jaci of Gary, Texas; grandsons, Adam Renfro Jr. and Aliyah of Garrison, Texas, Ryan Renfro and Lexi of Nacogdoches Texas, and Elijah Burton of Gary, Texas; and great grandchildren Birdie, Waylon, and Annalise. He is also survived by his mother, Val Jean Park of Douglas, Wyoming; brother, Ronald Burton and wife, Terry of Douglas, Wyoming; sisters-in-law; Patrica Burton of Woodward, Oklahoma and Karen Burton of Douglas, Wyoming, as well as numerous other family members.
Lester was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Sr.; step-father, Barry Park; brothers, Robert and Kent.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, May 17th, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the Douglas Park Cemetery in Douglas, Wyoming with military honors accorded by United States Marine Corps military funeral honors and Samuel Mares American Legion Post #8.
