Ray Kline Grieb, 86, was born in Pueblo, Colorado on Friday, February 23, 1934. Ray Kline Grieb was raised in Nebraska and Pennsylvania.
Attending Cheltenham High School in a suburb of Philadelphia, Ray excelled in scholastics and track, taking many awards for his performance in cross country races.
Returning to Colorado to attend college at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado, Ray met and would later marry his first wife, Alice Wahlstrom after attending Nashotah House Seminary in Wisconsin. Ordained as a priest in the Episcopal Church in 1961, Ray served the Lord for 60 years.
Ray served parishes in Cripple Creek, Colorado and Ogden, Utah before moving his family to Western Michigan. There he served in a number of churches, including a term as Chaplain for Starr Commonwealth for Boys, as well as parishes in Saint Joseph and Montague, Michigan. The family then moved back to Colorado where Ray served churches in Lakewood, Colorado Springs and Alamosa.
After raising his first three children and numerous foster children, he was divorced from his first wife, Alice.
Ray then moved to Wyoming where he served at the Little Snake River Parish in Dixon, Wyoming. There he met and married his second wife, Marion I. Border. He took on the task of helping her raise three of her four children, effectively his second family. Ray then moved his new family to Nebraska serving parishes in Sidney and Cozad, Nebraska. He later moved back to Wyoming, retiring to Elk Mountain, Wyoming where he suffered the loss of his second wife, Marion, to complications from cancer.
A few years later, Ray met and later married his third wife, Leslie Parker Dickerson, and moved to live with her in Wheatland. Ray continued to serve the Church as a supply priest to the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming until the pandemic of 2020 hit the state. Ray and Leslie both took seriously ill on January 1, 2021. He lost his beloved Leslie on January 21, 2021 and followed her in death on January 22, 2021.
Ray is survived by his children, Andrew (Guangping) of Denver, Colorado, Glenn of Waukesha, Wisconsin and Diana Richardson, currently in Dubai; step-children, Tim Border (Annette) of Tampa, Florida, Robert (Teri) Border of Rawlins, Wyoming, Terrel (Alysha) Border of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Joellen (David) Owens of Neosho Rapids, Kansas. He is also survived by Leslie’s daughter, Wendy Dickerson of Wheatland, and son, David Dickerson of Germany. He also has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored him.
