RENE` SUZZETTE (KEMPER) KEMPER

A Celebration of Life service for Rene` Suzzette Kemper, 60, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Douglas High School Auditorium, 1701 Hamilton Street, Douglas, Wyoming with The Reverend Bobbe Ftizhugh officiating.  The family would invite all joining them in the celebration to wear pink or Kemper Strong.

Rene` Suzzette Kemper, Mayor of Douglas Wyoming, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas, Wyoming after a courageous battle with cancer.  She leaves behind a beautiful, funny, witty daughter, Dorina, a house full of furry friends, and a family that will forever miss her love.

Rene` was born on Wednesday, October 17, 1962 in Cheyenne, Wyoming the daughter of Morris Dean and Dona Jene (Carpenter) Kemper and was raised on a ranch outside of Cheyenne.  As a child, she could often be found in a stack of hay surrounded by baby kittens.  These animals became the characters in the stories that she often entertained her family with.  Her incredible imagination and love for writing inspired her to graduate with a teaching degree in English from the University of Wyoming.  After graduating and moving to Douglas, Rene` embraced her true love of service and began her career at the Youth Development Services.  Rene`’s desire to make a difference and serve continued as she became director of YDS, served as a Rotarian, and eventually became mayor of the community she loved.  With communication, compassion, and respect, Rene led the community of Douglas until her last day on this earth.  

Rene`’s love of life and incredible humor will be missed by all that knew her.  She not only brought joy and laughter to others but she truly made a difference.   Terry Pratchett once said, “No one is actually dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away.” For all those that knew Rene` Kemper, we will forever feel the ripples of her kindness and love therefore she is not gone, but will remain in our hearts forever.

Rene’ is survived by her daughter, Dorina Kemper of Douglas and her siblings, Michelle Simone` (Patrick) Rice of Scottsdale, Arizona, Rise Danielle (Royce) Hancock of Discovery Bay, California, and Michael Douglas (Traci) of Oakley, California.

Rene` was preceded in death by her father, Morris, on April 2, 2012 and her mother, Dona, on September 9, 2003.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Youth Development Services, P.O. Box 1328, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
