No funeral service will be held for Richard Ray “Dick” Raper, 88, at this time
Dick Raper died Sunday, January 3, 2021 at the Douglas Care Center in Douglas, Wyoming.
He was born Monday, April 11, 1932 in Holdenville, Oklahoma the son of Cecil F. and Agnes May (McClesky) Raper. He moved to California with his parents when he was four years old. Dick attended high school in Montebello, California.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1953, and he was stationed at March Air Force Base in California.
After his Air Force service, he worked for North American Aviation, Rockwell, and Atomics International in security and health physics. He attended Ventura College and subsequently was in real estate sales until 1966.
Dick was married to Frances Caroline Verke on September 6, 1958. Richard and Frances moved to the Denver, Colorado area in 1966. He was in home sales and project manager for a developer until starting his home building business in Douglas in 1975. He was also a partner in a cable business.
He was a member of the Rotary Club of Douglas and a life director of the National Home Builders Association, was national representative for Wyoming of the association for many years.
Dick enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, and traveling in later years.
He is survived by his wife, Fran, of Douglas.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles, and one sister, Patricia.
A memorial to the Douglas Rotary Club, P.O. Box 1083, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
