February 19, 2004 ~ June 9, 2022 (age 18)

A funeral service for Richard Edward "Zeke" Wardell, 18, was held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at the Lewis Park Band Shell in Wheatland, Wyoming with Tom Watson officiating.

Zeke passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022 of a motor vehicle accident near Wheatland.

He was born to the proud parents, Alan and Joanette (Johnson) Wardell on Thursday, February 19, 2004 in Wheatland, Wyoming.  He was greeted at the door by two sisters, Jackie and Jamie, who were anxiously waiting at home for their new baby brother.

Zeke was a recent graduate of Wheatland High School.  He was involved in FFA, Trap Club, and Gaming Club.  One of his many of his full of life proud moments.  There are many of those but to mention a few.

In eighth grade he fell for the love of his life, Cherokee Huston, whom he started dating the next year, and she became his fiancée in 2021, and they were to be married in July of 2022.  Zeke and Cherokee were blessed with a 6 lbs. 12 oz baby boy, Emmett Xavigher Huston on April 29, 2022.  They were the loves of his life!

Zeke was also in the process of joining the Electrician Union to pursue a career as an electrician.

Zeke was a kind soul, slow to anger, and quick to help anyone.  He lived a lot in his 18 short years.  Zeke was a shining light to all and will be missed greatly.

Zeke is survived by his parents, Alan and Joanette Wardell of Wheatland; sisters, Jackie (Cameron) Wallis of Wheatland and Jamie Wardell of Chadron, Nebraska; nieces, Starlynn and Lelia; nephew, William “Liam” all of Wheatland; son, Emmett Huston; fiancée, Cherokee Huston; grandparents, Mack and Bonnie Wardell of Lovell, Wyoming; Jack Johnson of Wheatland; and Joyce Lien of Gillette, Wyoming.

He was preceded in death by his great grandma, Alice Johnson; uncle, Neal Wardell; and three cousins, Blake, Dylan, and Hudson Wardell.

A memorial to the Richard "Zeke" Wardell Memorial Fund, Platte Valley Bank, 200 Sixteenth Street, Wheatland, Wyoming 82201 would be appreciated by the family.
