RICHARD YEAMAN Obituary

Richard Thomas Yeaman, 83, of Douglas, Wyoming, passed away in Douglas surrounded by family and friends Thursday, September 4, 2025.

He was born on Thursday, April 30, 1942 in Rawlins, Wyoming, the son of William and Lupé Erickson.

Rich graduated from Rawlins High School and went on to play basketball at Casper College. He later earned his education degree from Chadron State College. His love of teaching and learning also led him to serve as a graduate assistant in political science at the University of Wyoming.

In 1964, Rich met and married his best friend, Carolyn Yeaman. Together, they shared two children and built a life rooted in family, community, and sports.

Rich began his teaching and coaching career in Lovell, Wyoming, and later coached at Guernsey-Sunrise High School. He went on to teach and coach football, basketball, and golf throughout his career, achieving a highlight in 1991 when he guided his team to a 3A State Basketball Championship. He finished his career teaching and coaching in Brush, Colorado.

Following retirement, Rich returned to Douglas, where he cherished watching his grandchildren play sports and spending time with family. His lifelong dedication to athletics and education was recognized in 1989 when he was inducted into the Wyoming Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Beyond the classroom and court, Rich loved the outdoors. He never missed a hunting season with his son, grandsons, and friends from Texas. He also treasured simple joys like sharing cookies with friends in Guernsey.

Rich will be remembered as a kind, generous man who built lasting friendships throughout Wyoming and beyond. His impact as a teacher, coach, mentor, and friend will live on in the lives of the countless students and athletes he influenced.

He is survived by his son, Jeff; daughter, Lisa (John) Weigel; grandchildren, Jake Hepp, Jenna Hepp, AJ Yeaman, Michael Yeaman, Mitch Weigel, and Brooke Weigel.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents.

Rich was one very good man, and his legacy will continue through the family, friends, and players who were blessed to know him.
