ROBERT F. "BOB" JENKINS

A funeral service for Robert F. “Bob” Jenkins, 79, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at the First Christian Church in Wheatland, Wyoming with Pastor Casey Schroeder officiating.  Inurnment will be held at the Chugwater Cemetery that afternoon.
Robert “Bob” Jenkins passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022 at his home in Wheatland.
Robert Floyd “Bob” Jenkins was born on Sunday, October 25, 1942 in Chugwater, Wyoming to Sidney Amos Jenkins and Florence Hitt-Jenkins.
On October 3, 1960, he was untied in marriage to Mary Elaine Blanton. They raised three daughters and one son., Elizabeth Betts, Sandra Hall, Carol Borders, and Kevin Jenkins. Bob also had ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Bob completed his certificate in automotive and diesel mechanics at Fargo, North Dakota in 1996. He then returned to Wheatland where he continued his career as an auto mechanic, working for various businesses until opening his own business in the mid 70’s with his brother, Jerry Jenkins. In 1979, he took on a new adventure when he purchased a property on Sawmill Road and opened a mechanic shop and salvage yard. He ran this business until he retired at the age of 66.
Bob had a zest for life, he loved his family dearly and enjoyed being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed sharing stories of his life growing up and we all enjoyed hearing them. He had a bit of an odd sense of humor but that is on of the things we all loved so much about him, that and his infectious laugh.
Bob is survived by his four children, Elizabeth (Todd) Betts of Wheatland, Sandra (Walt) Hall of Wheatland, Carol (Scott) Borders of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and Kevin (Melissa) Jenkins of Wheatland; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and siblings, Sid, Phil, Jerry and Chuck Jenkins, and Emma Warner.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jenkins; parents, Sid and Florence Jenkins; sisters, Alma Welty and Darlene Zimmerman; and one grandson, Cory Borders.
The Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland, Wyoming is in charge of the arrangements.
