ROSEMARIE (CORNETT) ROBY

A graveside service for Rosemarie Roby, 98, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 27, 2022 at the Valley View Cemetery in Torrington, Wyoming with Reverend Lincoln Winter of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Wheatland, Wyoming officiating. 

Rosemarie Roby passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022 at the Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland.

Rosemarie was born in Torrington, Wyoming on Saturday, December 29, 1923, to Marvin and Hermine Cornett.

Rosemarie grew up on her parent’s homestead South of Torrington.  She graduated from the University Wyoming with a teaching degree.  While living in Denver, Colorado she met and was happily married to William McManus Sr. until his death in 1961.  Her brother, Robert, decided she and Melvin Roby would be a perfect couple, and they married blending their two families to make a total of eight children.  After 38 years together, she lost Melvin in 2003.

Rosemarie was known for and enjoyed having a home open to family and friends with a welcoming warmth and wonderful food.  Mel and Rosemarie also served as a wonderful life example by fostering over 300 children. 

 Rosemarie was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Virginia McManus at birth; brother, Robert Cornett; grandson, Tyler McManus; and stepdaughter, Vicki Purdy. 

She is survived by her children, William McManus Jr. (Linda), Robert McManus (Callae), Joan Hoffman, Martie Bland (Michael), Jacqueline LaCasse, Chery Comer, and Casey Roby; and foster daughter, Cheryl Frias; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
