RUBY PAULINE (VANDERPOOL) GROSE

Ruby Pauline (Vanderpool) Grose, 87, left her family Sunday, March 7th, 2021. Ruby was a strong sassy lady who lived her life, her way. Everyone who met her loved her. She was always there to comfort you with a tight hug, and was never afraid to line you out with one of her “looks” and nice sturdy finger shake. She may have been tiny, but boy was she mighty!

Ruby was born Wednesday, February 7, 1934 at her family home in Leon, Iowa the daughter of Judson Ivan and Edith Jane (Wills) Vanderpool.  She was welcomed home by her older brothers, Oral and Lowell, and sister, Opal. She was later joined by brother, Lloyd “Tiny”. 

Ruby married Duane Edward “Bud” Grose October 3rd, 1951 in Tingley, Iowa. To this union four children were born, Kenny Lee, Michael Edward, Teresa Lyn, and Donald Ivan. 

Bud and Ruby made their home in Ellston, Iowa raising her family and taking on many titles, mom, farmer, secretary, gardener, and later ran the family store.  In 1981, Ruby and Bud divorced; she then moved to Glenrock, Wyoming to be with her family. She worked at the hospital in Casper, Wyoming until retirement in 1999. She remained independent and lived on her own until the time of her death.

Ruby was proceeded in death by her parents, Judson in 1981 and Edith, in 1945; brothers, Oral on October 13,1992, Lowell on January 18, 2020, and Tiny on August 5, 2015; sister, Opal on November 21, 2004; her ex-husband, Bud Grose, on July 24, 2019; and grandson, Nicholas Daniel Grose, on January 10, 2016.

She is survived by her children, Kenny (Janet), Michael (Patty), Teresa (Scott), and Donnie (Jamie); sister-in-law, Fran Vanderpool; 22 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren with one on the way; one great-great grandchild; along with many other family members and friends.

Cremation has taken place, the family would love to have you join them Saturday, April 3rd, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Grace Bible Baptist Church, 405 South Park Street, Casper, Wyoming for a celebration of life and reception.

A memorial to the Glenrock Senior Citizens Center, P.O. Box 783, Glenrock, Wyoming 82637 would be appreciated by the family.
