RUSSELL "RUSS" GARY HINEMAN

Russell Gary “Russ” Hineman, age 82, passed away Tuesday, June 9th, 2026 at Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas, Wyoming.

He was born Sunday, November 28, 1943 in Douglas, Wyoming the son of Gerald Ralph and Tonette Mae (Hanson) Hineman.  Russ was raised and educated in Douglas.

He served in the United States Army in Italy, and after leaving the service, he returned home to work various jobs around Douglas. He worked for the Douglas Police Department and the Converse County Sheriff’s Office for some time. After that, he worked various jobs in the oil field and around Douglas until his health made him quit.

Russ found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Such as spending time with his friends at Riverside Plaza, playing pool, going to casinos and gambling, and was an avid sports fan, watching NASCAR and sports on TV. He was a member of Samuel Mares American Post #8. He enjoyed spending time at the American Legion and having a few spirits!

He is survived by his brothers, Allen Hineman of Lusk, Wyoming, Wes (Margaret) Hineman of Douglas, Dana (Josephine) Hineman of Missoula, Montana; and his sister, Laura Hineman and spouse of Toano, Virginia. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Russ is loved and will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald on February 10, 1990 and Tonnette on May 23, 2000; his brother, Ward Hineman on January 29, 1981, and his niece, Peggy Hineman Taylor on November 28, 2024.

Military graveside services accorded by the Samuel Mares American Legion Post #8 and Wyoming Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors will be held at the Douglas Park Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 25, 2026 with a Celebration of Life service to follow at the Douglas Senior Citizens Center, 340 First Street West, Douglas, Wyoming.
