Sharon Bourne passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at her home in Wheatland with her family by her side.
Sharon was born on Wednesday, June 11, 1952 in Denver, Colorado the daughter of Marin and Bernice Homer. She was one of six children born to this union, all of whom would end up being adopted by different families.
When just shy of a year old, Sharon was adopted by Leonard and Willa Hudnall of Las Animas, Colorado. The Hudnall’s only son, William, was a few years older than his new sister.
While still in her teenage years, Sharon married Gary Eugene Spady, the son of a local rancher. This marriage lasted only a few years, and two sons were born into this union. Not long after the marriage ended, Gary Spady died in an automobile accident.
Toward the end of her marriage, Sharon had managed to attend Otero Junior College in nearby La Junta, Colorado, and received her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree. For the next 35 years she would work on and off in the nursing profession, at several different hospitals, helping to heal the sick with a combination of her nursing skills and naturally cheerful disposition.
Sharon then married Frank Randall Bourne on April 22, 1974 and they were blessed with two children, a son and a daughter. Sharon, Frank, and daughter, Cassandra moved to Wheatland in 2002 so that Frank, a trucker, could take a trucking job that allowed him to be home daily.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Bourne; great-grandchildren, Lyrric Baker and Kayden McPherson; and siblings, Barbara Cooper, Carl Deschamps, Jennifer Bartlett, and Terry Matthews.
