SHARON M. (SMITH) SMITH

Funeral services for Sharon M. Smith, 68, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Bill Williamson of the First Baptist Church officiating.  Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Stoystown, Pennsylvania.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.

Sharon died on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas.

She was born Sunday, March 11, 1956 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania the daughter of Meredith William “Smitty” and Helen E. (Broad) Smith. 

Sharon started her 50 plus years of nursing at Mercy Hospital in Johnstown at the age of 17.  Her nursing accomplishments included being director of nursing in Lusk, Wyoming, Douglas, Wyoming, and Rawlins, Wyoming.  Also, in Sharon’s nursing career she served as a traveling nurse for over 20 years. 

Sharon’s scholastic achievements were vast, earning multiple degrees…Masters degree in Theology, Bachelor degree in Nursing, and Bachelor degree in Christian Science. 

She was also an ordained minister.

Sharon was an avid dog lover.  Her dogs were her “kids”, very spoiled.

She is survived by her sister, Patty Trio; nieces, Deeanna Shearer and Jamie Randolph; and great nieces and nephews, Hannah, Gracie, Cole, and Jacob all of Johnstown.

She was preceded in death by her father, Smitty, on March 3, 1991 and mother, Helen, on December 3, 1992.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Laramie Peak Humane Society, P.O. Box 463, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
