SHAWN MAYERS Obituary

Shawn Mayers, 54, of Douglas, Wyoming passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026.

He was born in Laramie, Wyoming and was a man of faith, family, and service.

During his youth, his family moved several times throughout all of Wyoming. In his sophomore year at Douglas High School, he reluctantly joined his family as they moved out of state to Tracy, California.  Shawn graduated from Tracy High School in 1989. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as an SRB Clerk. He was deployed to Iraq during the Desert Shield/ Desert Storm conflict and had the responsibility of driving POWs to and from designated locations.

After completing his 4-year term in the Marine Corps, Shawn worked as a security guard and had success in the car business as a salesman. His success was largely accredited to his strong work ethic and easy-going personality. He had the ability to start up a conversation with anyone.

Shawn’s love for the Wyoming way of life was rekindled each year when he returned for annual hunting trips. In 2022 he made the move back to Douglas with his wife (also a Marine) and two youngest children.

Shawn was a talented athlete. He wrestled, ran track, played baseball, and excelled in basketball. He enjoyed coaching and watching his children wrestle, play soccer, baseball, and basketball.  He was often heard cheering the team on as well as providing occasional corrections towards the officials.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice, and children, Crystal, Shawn, Seth, Staci, Shane, Skylar, Sawyer, and Sydnie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Lillian.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the First Baptist Church, 209 South Fourth Street, in Douglas on Monday, May 4, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Zack Andrews officiating.  A reception will be held after the service in the Fellowship Hall of the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Floridia 32256 would be appreciated by the family.
