On Monday, January 10, 2022 our mother, Shirley Dean (Hatfield) Jamerman Blakeley, 77, passed away peacefully at her home near Douglas, Wyoming with family, after being in hospice for several weeks.
Shirley was born on Tuesday, February 1, 1944 in Casper, Wyoming. The pride and joy of her parents, William F. and Imogene R. “Jean” (Randall) Hatfield, and a princess to her brothers, William Edwin “Ed” (Gisela), Robert Eugene “Bob” (Jean), James Nelson “Jim”, and David Farrell “Dave” (Verna) Hatfield.
Her father, William Hatfield, passed away on February 23, 1966. Imogene later married Charles “Chuck” Banks in July of 1966.
She was raised and educated in Glenrock, Wyoming and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wyoming-Casper Campus. Shirley earned her master’s degree in mental Health Counseling and worked at Solutions for Life for several years.
Shirley married Albert “Lee” Jamerman of February 18, 1961. They lived on the family ranch, NT Bar, in Jeffrey City, Wyoming. Lee and Shirley had two children that they absolutely adored, Kenneth Lee “Kenny” and Deidre “Dee”. Lee passed away on August 25, 1990. Shirley later married James E. “Jim” Blakeley on March 16, 1991. Jim passed away on March 3, 2005.
She enjoyed reading and was a skilled writer who had several short stories published. She also loved crafting and was extremely gifted in all areas. This past year she enjoyed teaching both her daughter and her daughter-in-law how to sew. She looked forward to their Tuesday afternoon craft days!
Shirley loved Jesus and was a spiritual mentor to many. Her wisdom and the joy she had in sharing her love, will be remembered.
Her pride and joy were her seven grandkids, Aaron (Brandy) Jamerman of North Platte, Nebraska, Greg (Latinna Carr) Vandeventer of Ten Sleep, Wyoming, Kelsie (Duke) McMillen of Douglas Mark Vandeventer of Douglas, Eric (Emerson Owens) Jamerman of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Shyann Bennett of Douglas, and Kody Bennett of Douglas. The legacy that she built and the memories she created will be cherished for a lifetime.
She is survived by her son, Kenny (Kendra) Jamerman, of Douglas; her daughter, Dee (John) Bennett, of Douglas; her grandchildren; her brothers, Dave (Verna) Hatfield of Grand Junction, Colorado and Jim Hatfield of Clayton, New Mexico; sisters-in-law, Jean Hatfield of Casper, Gisela McClellan of Glenrock, and Marge Hatfield of Wright, Wyoming; as well as her many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Shirley was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ed Hatfield and Bob Hatfield; mother, Imogene Banks, on February 5, 2008; and step father, Chuck Banks, on October 25, 2009.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel in Douglas with Reverend Ed Rafferty of the Trinity Baptist Church in Douglas officiating. Inurnment will be in the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville, Wyoming.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Central Wyoming Hospice Home, 319 South Wilson Street, Casper, Wyoming 82601 would be appreciated by the family.
