SUE BAUER Obituary

A funeral service for Sue Bauer, 79, will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, March 7, 2022 at the United Church of Christ with The Reverend Jill Zimmerschied and The Reverend Jennie Ketner officiating.  Interment will be in the Wheatland Cemetery.

Sue Bauer passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming.

Sue was born on Friday, March 6, 1942 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma the daughter of Jack and Norma (Fairchild) Anstine.

Sue and her parents moved around as she was growing up, following her father while he was an inspector and welder for a pipeline company.  However, most of Sue’s upbringing and education was spent in Wheatland. She graduated from Wheatland High School in 1960.  She attended the University of Wyoming for a year following that she spent time traveling and visiting her family for the next four years.  After her travels she came back to Wyoming and settled in Cheyenne, where she worked as a cashier and bookkeeper.  On the weekends when she had time off, Sue would come to Wheatland to visit family and friends.  This is when she reconnected with her soul mate, George Bauer, and began her life as a farmer’s wife.

She loved all that farm life entailed.  Not only did she love being a farmer’s wife but she loved raising her two daughters and supporting their 4-H and sporting events.  She was a leader of the 4-H dog club, "Man’s Best Friend" for over 20 years.

Some of her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, scrapbooking, reading, training her dogs, being outside tending to her flowers, tending to her house, and keeping her freezer supplied with her chocolate chip cookies that the family all loved.  Sue loved supporting her grandkids in all their activities, she was their biggest fan.  What Sue truly treasured most in her life was family time.  The family gatherings were her pride and joy.

She is survived by her husband of  57 years, George Bauer, of Wheatland; daughters, Jackie (Zack) Wilson and Kellie (Tracy) Preuit both of Wheatland; grandchildren, Jamey (Zack) Rose, Logan (Emily) Wilson, Kobey Preuit, and Kade Preuit all of Wheatland; and great grandsons, Kasen Rose and Kael Rose of Wheatland.

Serving as pallbearers will be Logan Wilson, Kobey Preuit, Kade Preuit, Zack Wilson, Tracy Preuit, and Zack Rose.

Donations may be made to the Sue Bauer Memorial Fund at Platte Valley Bank, 200 Sixteenth Street, Wheatland, Wyoming 82201.
