VALORIE "VAL" JEAN (JACKSON) JACKSON

Funeral services for Valorie Jean Jackson, 77, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 25, 2023 at the Gorman Funeral Homes – Converse Chapel in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Dale Fitzsimmons of Faith Bible Chapel in Casper, Wyoming officiating.  Inurnment will be in the Donald J. Ruhl Memorial Cemetery in Greybull, Wyoming.

Val died Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Amie Holt Care Center in Buffalo, Wyoming.

Val Jackson was born on Wednesday, October 2, 1946 in Basin, Wyoming to Elmer Dean and Gladys Arlene (Clawson) Jackson. She graduated in 1965 from Glenrock High School and then from Casper College in 1967.

She married Michael R. Vigil Sr. and divorced after 25 years.  They had five children. Bret Alan Drake Vigil, Michelle R. Vigil, Michael Vigil Jr., Matthew Vigil, and Marshall Vigil.

She is survived by her children, Michelle Vigil, Matthew Vigil, and Marshall (Kelly) Vigil; grandchildren, Brittany (Travis) Mortimore, Lacy (Jesse) Watson, Taiya Vigil, Mariah Vigil, and Nicholas “Nico” Vigil; great grandchildren Maraya, Ripken, and Kaileia Mortimore; and sister, Rene Camino and family. 

Val was a multi-talented woman who loved her family and friends. Early in life she enjoyed academics and spent countless hours reading and teaching others. She loved to host dinners and would cook elaborate meals coupled with a seasonal theme. In addition to her loved ones, she invited those who had no place to enjoy a meal. Val had another talent for playing the piano and would accompany many musicians throughout the years. When her children were in school, she could be found on the road transporting her kids to various sporting events. She devoted her entire life to her family and wanted the best for them. 

Over the years, Val held various jobs, as an apartment manager, at the city, at the school district, and was co-owner of the family hot oil business. She was business savvy and could come up with great ideas and solutions to problems. 

Her humor, wisdom, and spirit will be missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents and these loved ones, Elmer Jackson on January 22, 2012 and Arlene Jackson on August 19, 1993; her sons, Bret Vigil on August 22, 1986 and Michael Vigil Jr. on February 15, 2019; and various aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.
