VERA IRENE (EPPERLY) BARTSHE

A graveside service will be held for Vera Irene Bartshe, 93, at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the Douglas Park Cemetery in Douglas, Wyoming with The Reverend Bobbe Fitzhugh officiating.

Vera Bartshe died Friday, May 7, 2021 at the Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas.

Vera and her twin brother, Verl “Curly”, were born to Arthur Augustus and Cecil Leah (Guthrie) Epperly on Wednesday, March 7, 1928 at the family homestead near Bill, Wyoming.  She received her early education at Dry Creek Grade School at Bill, and then attended and graduated in 1946 from Converse County High School in Douglas.  Vera was married to James Hugh Bartshe in Douglas on July 25, 1952.  Vera’s working career included work at The Creamery, Coast to Coast, in the treasurer’s office at the court house, Converse Land Title, and she retired from the Thunder Basin Grazing Association after 33 years of employment.

Vera enjoyed traveling, needle point, bowling, her rose garden, and going to the Senior Center for lunch and visiting with people.  Vera always had a joke for you.

She played softball in her early years and she was an avid baseball fan, especially the Colorado Rockies.

Vera is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Leon) Scott of Reno, Nevada and Becky Bartshe (Wayne Bryan Jr.) of Douglas.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur, on July 3, 1975; mother, Cecil, on February 24, 1982; husband, James, on March 3, 2009; and siblings, Verl “Curly Epperly on June 27, 1987, Gerald Epperly on July 3, 1954, Evelyn Spracklen on November 15, 2016; and Dorothy Holtorf on August 10, 1955.                                                                              

A memorial to the Douglas Senior Citizens Center, P.O. Box 192, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 or to the Laramie Peak Humane Society, P.O. Box 463, Douglas Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
