A funeral service for Vondel Mae Ree “Vonne” Parish, 91, will be held at 1:30 P.M. Friday, April 19, 2024 at the Gering Cemetery in Gering, Nebraska. If there happens to be bad weather the service will be held indoors at the Saint Francis Episcopal Church, 14 E 20th Street, Scottsbluff, Nebraska. A reception will be held after the service at the Parish home, 2217 Avenue O, Scottsbluff.
Vonne Parish passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland, Wyoming surrounded by her family.
Vonne Parish was born on December 13, 1932 in Norfolk, Nebraska the daughter of Howard and Opal (Tonner) Jones.
Her family moved to Scottsbluff, in 1941. She graduated high school from Mitchell High School where she met Alan Parish. They were married on April 24, 1952 after Alan returned from the Korean War. Vonne and Alan raised their kids in Kimball, Nebraska. They moved to Brighton, Colorado and then retired in Scottsbluff.
Some of her hobbies included playing the piano, singing, sewing, she made all of Kerry’s dresses, and she was an amazing cook.
She is survived by her husband, Alan Parish; children, Bruce (Alna) Parish, Mark (Stephanie) Parish, and Kerry (Tom) Jackson; sister and best friend, Betty Peterson; grandchildren, Stacy (Corey) Hamrick, Joni (Bret) Zowada, Brian (Nicole) Jackson, Katie (Nick) Woddruff, Erica Parish, Spencer (Lauren) Parish, Veronica (Colbey) Parish, Tyler (Molly) Parish, and Kyla (McCoy) Parish; grandson-in-law, Skylair Jaure; fifteen great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Karen Parish.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandmother, Edna Watson who helped raise her; brothers-in-law, Stanley Walker, Wesley Parish, and Eldon Peterson; her lovely granddaughter, Miranda Jaure; and sister-in-law, Marcela Parish.
Vonne was loved by so many and will be missed by all who knew her.
