A private family graveside service will be held for Wilbur “Dean” Engling, 83, at the Horseshoe Cemetery near Glendo, Wyoming. A memorial service will be planned for the summer or when the COVID-19 situation changes
Dean passed away Saturday, March 21, 2020 at his home in Glendo, Wyoming surrounded by his family.
Dean was born Tuesday, January 26, 1937 in Lucas, Kansas the son of William Henry and Alma M. (Deiter) Engling.
Dean met the love of his life, Joyce Weimer, in Glendo and they were married on September 9, 1956. Dean worked on building the dam at Glendo, then he stayed with the company and worked on another dam in Collbran, Colorado. He also worked in Jeffrey City, Wyoming before returning to Glendo to join his brother, Everett “Honk”, in the Standard Station. When the interstate was built, Dean and Honk began trucking cattle and hay full time. When Dean retired, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Dean is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Engling, of Glendo; five children, Ronald Dean (Tammy) Engling of Glendo, Robert John (Sandy) Engling of Glendo, Nancy Helen (Todd) Dysart of Glendo, Linda Lee (Mike) Boughton of Wheatland, Wyoming, and Cheryl Ann (Dan) Ellis of Lingle, Wyoming; two sisters, MaryAnn Standley of Salina, Kansas and Viola Karst of Russell, Kansas; one brother, Orval (RoseMarie) Engling of Luray, Kansas, twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
Dean was preceded in death by his father, William Engling, on January 19, 1975; mother, Alma Minear, on June 14, 1996; step father, Jesse W. Minear, on October 22, 1984; and brothers, Everett “Honk” Engling, on December 12, 2013 and Edward “Big Ed” Engling on July 2, 2017.
A memorial to Marge Cares Foundation, P.O. Box 98, Glendo, Wyoming 82213 would be appreciated by the family.
