A funeral service will be held for Willard Harrison Menter, 81, at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 21, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Bill Williamson officiating. Interment will be in the Monument Hill Cemetery in Thermopolis, Wyoming on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 11:00 A.M.
Willard Menter passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the Wyoming Hospice Home in Casper, Wyoming.
Willard was born Friday, October 13, 1939 in Wheatland, Wyoming. He was raised and educated in Douglas and graduated from the Douglas High School in 1960. He met the love of his life, Carol Ann Hovey, in Casper, Wyoming and they were married on May 29, 1967. They raised their four daughters in Douglas.
Willard worked for his brother, Jim, as a foreman at Menter Sand and Gravel and then went to work as a heavy equipment operator at the North Antelope Coal Mine where he retired from.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Douglas for many years, and was involved in church leadership.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Menter, of Douglas; daughters, Kari Marie (Kass) Cornella of Douglas, Connie Irene (Brant) Nyberg of Riverton, Wyoming, Christina Lynn (Ben) Nolte of Douglas, and Crystal Ann (Tony) Burgess of Montgomery, Texas; brother, James (Doris) Menter of Douglas; sisters, Marcia Ireton of Douglas and Margo Pronger of Sunbury, Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Willard was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and one sister.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Igo, Brant Nyberg, Tony Burgess, Kass Cornella, Ben Nolte, and Robert Zechiel.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dick Wortham, Wayne Porter, Al Lesco, Roy Strock, Cody Menter, Jay Summers, and John Walsh.
A memorial to the First Baptist Church, 209 South Fourth Street, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
