ZACKREY BOYD "ZACK" ASH

Zackrey Boyd Ash passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 74 years of age at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. 

He was born on Wednesday, February 4, 1948 in Cheyenne, to Boyd and Betty Lou (Gustafson) Ash.  Zackrey graduated from Chugwater High School in 1966, and attended Casper College and then entered the United States Army National Guard in 1968.  On May 13, 1972 Zackrey married Judy Sundby, the love of his life, in Laramie, Wyoming.  Zackrey and Judy moved to Wheatland, Wyoming in 1974 and Zackrey worked, initially, for Basin Electric from 1976 to 1985.  Zackrey and Judy owned and operated Ash’s Sales and Service Inc. for 34 years in Wheatland prior to both retiring in December of 2019. 

Zackrey is survived by his wife; two very special children, Lance of Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Heather of Gillette, Wyoming; sister, Delores Fox of Salem, Oregon; and many extended family members.

Zackrey was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd Ash, on August 13, 1987, and Betty Ash, on June 30, 2019; sister, Margaret Ann, on October 31, 1951; grandparents, Philip, on August 13, 1987, and Laura Ash, on June 3, 1983, and Henry, on March 2, 1973, and Bertha Gustafson, on March 28, 1986; and in-laws, Harold, on December 28, 1997, and Dolores Sundby, on December 30, 1990.

Zackrey above all else loved his wife and children and friends.  He loved motorcycles, hot rods, and his “Blues Music.”  He never knew a stranger and was always willing to offer a helping hand to others.  Although he spent most of his life in Wheatland, you can take the man out of Chugwater but you can’t take Chugwater out of that man!

Zackrey will be honored with a graveside service on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at the Wheatland Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life will follow the service at the Wheatland Agriplex in Wheatland.
