Funeral services for Reo Lane Underwood, 61, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Florence McKibben Cafeteria at the Wyoming State Fairgrounds in Douglas, Wyoming with Pastor Fred Dyer of the Trinity Baptist Church officiating.
Reo Lane Underwood’s sixty-one year adventure came to an end the evening of Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Colorado University Hospital Anschutz after losing his three year fight with stage 4 cancer.
Reo was born in Billings, Montana on Wednesday, February 29, 1956 the son of Richard Lee and Viola Maxine (Blank) Underwood and grew up in Powell, Wyoming, hunting and fishing with his Grandpa and lifetime friends. He later graduated from Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyoming. Shortly after graduating he married, Stephanie Jean Prell, and continued the family tradition working in the oilfield over 40 years, alongside his family, at first as a hand, later a partner, and business owner of, Northwinds of Wyoming, Inc.
He loved hunting, fishing, flying, and being with friends and family. Reo always lived life to the fullest and he lived more in his 61 years than most could live in 100 plus years. No one knew how to make the dullest event an exciting adventure the way he did. He loved to share his stories and making it possible for others to share in his experiences. He never knew a stranger and made friends wherever he ventured.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard “Dick” Underwood on October 19, 1995 and Viola “Maxine” Underwood on August 20, 1986; his brothers, Shaun Lee Underwood in 1955 and Rickey Lee Underwood on October 26, 2011; close Uncle Russell Lee “Buck” Underwood on June 20, 2011; and nephew, Jeremiah John Henrie on July 28, 2000.
He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Stephanie Underwood, of Douglas; daughters Alicia (Dominic) Madia of Douglas and Andrea (Brian) Hall of Watford City, North Dakota; son, Ryan (Ashley) Underwood, of Fort Collins, Colorado; his grandchildren Gracie Hall, Lanie Hall, Rythen Underwood, Daniel Madia, Laythen Underwood, Drake Madia, and Piper Madia; along with his sisters Suszy (Scott) Novasio  of Red Lodge, Montana, Rena Henrie of Glendo, Wyoming, Candy (Darin) Geringer of Glendo, Wyoming, and Kristine (Dan) Boots of Soldotna, Alaska; and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
A memorial to the Boys and Girls Club of Douglas, P.O. Box 1557, Douglas, Wyoming 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Larry Brandt, Kelly Brandt, Tommy Kyser, Fred Larsen, Randy Addleman, Pete Haman, Gary Burgener, Tom Clark, Marv Cosner, Dominic Madia, Brian Hall, Tobin Novasio, Chad Underwood, Alan Burke, Josh Henrie, Jake Henrie, Tanner Burgener, Rage Geringer, Reed Burgener, Dalton Burgener, and Alex Clark.

Stephanie and family,

I am deeply sorry for your loss. I know losing Reo is a massive loss for you and your family. Reo truly was a wonderful, one-of-a-kind man. I pray that the Lord will comfort you as you grieve. Jesus truly is the only way forward...He can comfort and He can sustain you. Let Him be your guide through this process of grief.

I pray you look forward, as I do, to the day when the Lord wipes away all of our tears and when there is no more loss. Stephanie, please know that you and your family will be in my continual prayers.

In His love,
Cheryl
